The team of Axel Brown (Pilot), Thomas Harris, Xaverri Williams and De Aundre John produced a strong run on the 6th December Race to finish 5th overall with a total time of 48.17s for just the one run. This was just 0.06s seconds behind the team in fourth (Canada piloted by Cyrus Grey) and only 0.48s behind the event winners from the USA (Piloted by Kristopher Horm).
Positions were decided for the race on just that first run because an accident in the Female race damaged the track ice, meaning the second run couldn’t be completed. That left the team feeling a bit deflated because they felt they could have cleaned up their start to finish in 4th or even 3rd - Xav having troubles loading when his race suit ripped and caught his hand.
Roll on the second race on 7th.
A better push saw the team register 5.00s for the start versus 5.03s on the Friday. Doesn't sound a lot, but hundredths of a second and mean tenths of seconds at the bottom.
At the end of the first run, in an improved time of 47.98s the gallant crew sat once again in fifth as the teams around them also improved. But never fear, the second run is here... a start time of 5.01s saw the finishing time drop to 48.17s for the run, but the Canadian team (this time piloted by Pat Norton)dropped to 48.19s leaving them tied to the hundredth of a second over both runs. The result? Fourth place medals for both teams.
Congratulation Team TTO.
