Caribbean’s First 4-man Bobsleigh Podium

Trinidad and Tobago’s 4-man bobsleigh team has become the first in Caribbean history to earn a podium finish in an international event. The team of Axel Brown, Xaverri Williams, Shakeel John and Adam Hames crossed the finish line of the Park City North American Cup in 3rd place, securing a historic finish for the red white and black.

4 Man Podium

4 medals

The Bronze medal winning run was not the only race the team has competed in this week. There were also two 2-man races as well as another 4-man race. In all three prior events the team had finished in 4th place. However, in the final heat of the final race the quartet were able to do what was necessary to secure the podium. In bobsleigh, as in many winter sports there is an “extended podium” whereby the top-6 places all receive medals, meaning the team were still well rewarded for their efforts in securing 4th place finishes.

Just the beginning

This week marks the first time this team has ever raced together and the first time in over a year that the T&T contingent have entered a 4-man race. This medal winning week has shown that the team has ample potential and starts the journey to 4-man at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan off in very promising fashion.
